Our Journey
The Full Story
Hi, my name is Yaagni and I am the founder of Y-Heels.
My journey began in 2018 when I started developing my idea of an adaptable high heel at Brunel University. Having seen many women struggle with wearing high heels for a long period of time, I wanted to do something about it. Using 3D printing and pieces of different shoes, I constructed my first prototype for Y-Heels. This included a small internal heel that allowed women to remove their high heels and walk more comfortably on a lower heel.
After a year and a half of searching for manufacturers, I found a factory in Athens, Greece, to help bring my idea to life. After several discussions and iterations of the original idea, we concluded that starting with a customizable heel was the way to go.
We are now developing a "version1" of Y-Heels, where you can interchange the heel to a variety of styles from block to stiletto in a range of colours and materials.
Although we appreciate that this is not our original goal, we still feel that this is a concept that will be valuable to many people. Fashion is the second largest pollutant in the world. With fast fashion and trends changing at a fast pace, people are throwing away old clothes and shoes that the no longer need or want. Our new long lasting, high quality shoe will allow you to change the heel style and the straps without having to throw shoes or buy new ones!
Y-Heels is grateful for all the support we've received so far and hope that it continues as our journey develops! Please feel free to subscribe to our website to hear the most recent updates.
Thank you!
